By celebrating these outstanding achievements, The Chaplin Awards aim to perpetuate the legacy of innovation and excellence that characterises the cinematic arts.

Chaplin Award Asia Winner 2024: Brigitte Lin - A Cinematic Icon

Brigitte Lin Ching-hsia, a legendary figure in Chinese cinema, has been honored as the recipient of the Chaplin Award in Asia for 2024. Renowned for her striking performances and androgynous roles, Lin is celebrated as an icon of both Taiwanese and Hong Kong films. Born on November 3, 1954, in Chiayi, Taiwan, she emerged from humble beginnings to become one of the most recognizable faces in the industry.

Lin’s journey began in 1972 when she was discovered by a film producer on the streets of Taipei. Her debut in Chiung Yao’s film “Outside the Window” (1973) quickly catapulted her to stardom. Alongside contemporaries like Joan Lin and Charlie Chin, she became part of the celebrated group known as the “Two Chins, Two Lins,” dominating the romantic film genre in the 1970s.

Throughout her career, Lin has showcased her versatility in over 100 films, winning the Best Actress award at the Asia-Pacific Film Festival for her role in “Eight Hundred Heroes” (1976). Her collaborations with renowned directors such as Ringo Lam and Tsui Hark have solidified her status as a “screen goddess” among film lovers. Notable works include her iconic portrayal of Dongfang Bubai in “Swordsman II” (1992), which is frequently cited as one of cinema’s greatest performances.

Lin’s ability to break gender norms in her roles, often portraying male characters, has left a lasting impact on the film industry. Despite retiring in 1994, her influence continues to resonate, as she remains a symbol of strength and talent in the cinematic landscape.

Chaplin Award Asia Winner 2025: Lee Jung-jae – A Visionary of Korean Cinema

 

Lee Jung-jae , the acclaimed South Korean actor, filmmaker, and entrepreneur, has been honoured with the Chaplin Award in Asia 2025 at the prestigious Tatler Ball in Singapore.

 

The award was presented by our Founder and CEO, Kiera Chaplin – Entrepreneur, Model, and Advocate for Confidence, Empowerment, and Legacy.

 

Widely regarded as one of South Korea’s most successful and influential actors, Lee has built a remarkable legacy defined by versatility, depth, and an unwavering command of the screen. From his early performances in Il Mare and The Housemaid to his global triumph in Squid Game, his artistry has resonated with audiences worldwide. His groundbreaking role in Squid Game earned him a Primetime Emmy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Critics’ Choice Television Award, cementing his status as a global cultural icon.

 

Beyond acting, Lee Jung-jae is a visionary entrepreneur and filmmaker. As founder of Seorim C&D and co-owner of several ventures with his long-time friend and collaborator Jung Woo-sung, he continues to expand his influence across both creative and business spheres — embodying the spirit of innovation that defines modern Korean excellence.
